The New Holland Summer Fest,
A Pennsylvania State Championship
Located in the heart of Lancaster County, PA 72 teams from the U.S. and Canada descend upon New Holland Community Park to compete. All KCBS Rules Apply. Barbeque will be evaluated for taste, appearance and texture. The winner will automatically be invited to the American Royal Invitational Contest in Kansas City, MO.
The New Holland Summer Fest Committee has decided to CANCEL our 2020 New Holland Summer Fest taking place on August 28 and 29, 2020. This decision was not made lightly and we spent hours discussing before a decision was made. Due to the statewide shutdowns and mandates from our PA Governor about how each county reopens, we do not know what Lancaster County will look like in August.
The New Holland Borough, which owns the park where the New Holland Summer Fest takes place, told us they will be following the Governor’s guidelines and will not permit an event such as Summer Fest as long as the social distancing guidelines remain. Though predictions say that Lancaster County will be “Green” by August, that only allows for groups of 250 people to gather. In which case, the New Holland Borough would not allow our event to happen.
Also, the planning that goes into such a large event needs months of preparation. With the recent PA closings, the New Holland Summer Fest Committee has not been able to meet to accomplish our preparation goals. So, we are months behind where we should be to get ready for our large event.
We hope you understand our decision and accept our apology for cancelling our beloved event. If your team has already registered, we will hold your registration fee for our 2021 season on August 27 & 28.
Thank you again for your understanding and we hope you and your families are well.
